Frequently Asked Questions
What is The Pete Renner Foundation? The Pete Renner Foundation is a non-profit organization that was founded to help local kids with life-threatening illnesses or medical conditions get the help they need. This is done through fundraisers such as the annual Pete Renner Poker Run to help offset the often astronomical medical bills for these families.
How are children chosen? Our Board of Directors contacts local-area hospitals, social workers, and anyone in the community with information on families with children who have a life-threatening illness or condition. The families are then contacted and interviewed. It is a difficult task to choose but one child from the list of many, but with your help we may be able to help more of them in the years to come.
How can I help? Over the past few years the Annual Pete Renner Poker Run has grown tremendously. Last year we had over a thousand motorcycles and cars on the Run. It's a big job to feed that many people and clean up after. We can always use volunteers to help with any and every aspect of the Run. If you would like to volunteer your time PLEASE contact us!
What is a "poker run"? It's simply a poker game bikers play... at the first stop you "ante up", draw a card, then motor on to the next stop, where you draw another card, and on and on until you reach the last stop where you get your final card. The best hand wins!
I can't make it to the Poker Run... how can I make a donation? It's easy! Just send a check or money order to: The Pete Renner Foundation, Inc. at 3205 46 St. SW in Lehigh Acres FL 33976 OR deposit directly into Wachovia Bank, Account #2000028688460 The Pete Renner Foundation.
Is my donation tax-deductible? The Pete Renner Foundation, Inc. is recognized by the Internal Revenue Service of the United States of America as a "public charity", under something called 501(c)(3) Section 170, which is a fancy way of saying your contributions are tax-deductible. But don't take my word for it, ask your tax professional!
